Technical Documentation Internship
Berlin,
Germany
At Orion AM we focus on scientific research and the development of Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies. Our high-temperature AM systems allow aerospace companies, hospitals, research institutes, and service bureaus to print medical- and aerospace-grade polymers with the strength and density of injection-moulded parts.
We believe in building responsible and ethical technologies that tangibly better humanity. We are curious, creative, and excited we get to build innovative hardware every day.
We are seeking a Technical Documentation Intern to support our engineering and supply chain teams for a minimum of 6 months. This role begins as a mandatory Internship (Pflichtpraktikum) position for the first 3 months (paid with stipend), with the prospect of transitioning into a paid Internship (Freiwilliges Praktikum) from month 4.
This position gives you the opportunity to deepen your engineering knowledge and communication skills by working with us on real-world documentation challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Compliance & Certification Packages: Compile technical data sheets, material certificates, and system documentation into complete packages for customer validation and regulatory bodies.
-
Manuals & Visual Content: Draft, maintain, and refine operation, safety, and installation guides for our industrial AM systems using written and short video formats.
- Process & Quality Standardization: Work alongside our engineering team to document assembly workflows, system benchmarks, and quality control checklists.
- Documentation Architecture: Organize, format, and maintain technical assets (including schematics, test reports, and component BOMs) within Google Drive.
- Partner & Customer Support: Coordinate with external partners, customers, and testing agencies to deliver customized documentation packages as needed.
You Are:
- Currently enrolled in Engineering, Technical Communication, Information Design, or related field, and seeking a mandatory internship (Pflichtpraktikum) as part of your M.Sc. or B.Sc. program.
- Already officially registered (Angemeldet) in Berlin. This is a strict requirement.
- Fluent in English, our primary office language. German language skills a plus.
- An exceptional translator of complex ideas: You can take raw technical data or watch an engineer demonstrate a process, and create crisp, clear visual and written guides.
- Curious and hands-on: Prior involvement in student engineering projects (e.g., Formula Student), hardware startups, or 3D printing is highly valued.
- Detail-driven, thorough, and tech-savvy: You're comfortable using AI tools but proofread every word of output.
- Proficient with Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Sheets). Experience with basic visual layout or video editing tools is a big plus.
These qualities are important, but we encourage you to apply even if you feel you do not meet every single one.
We Offer:
- Industry Exposure: Hands-on experience in a fast-moving startup building high-temperature AM systems for aerospace and medical applications. You'll get a front-row view of how compliant, well-documented hardware is brought to market.
- Technical Skills: Practical experience with industrial ERP systems, building technical depth valuable for an engineer.
- Ownership: Direct responsibility for drafting and maintaining technical documentation.
